Misadventure

A few weeks ago a good friend came to town, and with him came a connection to a guy who owned a backcountry hut up by the continental divide. Once invited, A and I were psyched about the chance for an overnight adventure. There was only one problem: just days before I had finally seen a podiatrist about my still sore foot/ankle situation, and he had put me on a strict regime of advil, ice, and no unnecessary physical activity for the next week. The hut was only available for one night during the time our friend was in town, so we were faced with a decision: figure out a way to get me to that hut without ‘unnecessary physical activity,’ or skip it. Not one to back down from a challenge, the guys put there heads together and came up with a plan: people use sleds to haul gear into the backcountry all the time, why not use it for me? Where I’m Going

Writing in front of the fire on this chilly Colorado evening makes me happy it’s winter. And since I’m generally a warm weather girl, that is a very good thing. Continue reading “Where I’m Going”

Hot Spring Therapy

As most of you know, I am currently in the midst of a battle with a particularly nasty bout of tendinitis. This puts me in a pretty tortuous position, living at what is pretty much considered the center of all-things outdoor recreation, and essentially, all things which I cannot partake in. But there is one activity quite common in the area that I have found quite suited to my current condition: the hot spring. Apparently, they are everywhere around here – a fact I did not know earlier this month when A and I made the 2 hour drive to Glennwood Springs, CO to stay in a fancy hotel and visit their famous hot springs. No Bake Goodies

Yesterday was the day I have been waiting for for a very long time. My new computer arrived! My old one pooped out earlier this month, hence the lack of posts, but I plan on making up for that now that I’ve got technology back in my corner. So here it goes: Continue reading “No Bake Goodies”

Great Excuses Not to Go to Yoga

You didn’t really think I was going to write an anti-yoga post did you?

I stumbled upon this today and thought I would share. I hope you are all having a happy, healthy new year! I have a few blog posts in the works, but you’d be surprised how busy unemployment can be!

Be back soon!

Joy in 2012

Happy New Year single reader!

It’s a beautiful, blue sky day here in summit county. But since yesterday’s blizzard came with winds so high they whipped the snow off the mountain before it could reach the ground, we’re still sorely lacking suitable ski conditions – which is probably for the better as I continue to heal. So rather than spending the first day of the year on the slopes as I have for so many winters past, I’m spending it at home for a little R&R and some quiet contemplation. Update: Healing and Housing and Snow

Once again, it’s been quite a while since my last update. I think I was waiting for some big news or event. The truth is that life has been pretty quiet since the November festivities died down. My days have more or less revolved around two things: healing my very stubborn feet and ankles, and trying to find a place to live for the season. Fabulous Fall

Well single reader, I have been neglecting this blog pretty severely since my arrival in Santiago. A lot has happened since then – a mind boggling week in Madrid, a magical 4 days in Disney World, my 23rd birthday, a big fat Thanksgiving, lots of reunions, showing A and his family around Florida, and plenty of R&R for my poor pained feet.

Now I am back in Colorado and if the snow piling outside my window is any indication, fall is officially over.

It was such an amazing few months that I am having trouble organizing it all in my head. Maybe I’ll make an attempt at story-telling later, maybe not. But I have spent the last few snowed-in days creating my annual seasonal video.

So here it is, my best attempt at articulating my fabulous fall. Enjoy 🙂

It’s About Time: Camino de Santiago -The Final Day

Sorry about the delay all! But between being totally overwhelmed with everything that is Madrid and then totally exhausted from the trip home, I’ve totally failed at writing my promised account of that final day. So here we go… Continue reading “It’s About Time: Camino de Santiago -The Final Day”
