Thankful

A few nights ago, on the eve of Thanksgiving, I found myself sitting at my computer pondering a blank screen. I thought maybe it would be an appropriate time to write a post about all the things I’m thankful for. The thing is, I spend an awful lot of time on this blog going on and on about how awesome my life is. It’s not that I couldn’t think of anything that I was thankful for, I just couldn’t think of anything that hadn’t been written about before. And honestly, I just wasn’t in the writing mood. I was sitting with my fingers hovering over the keyboard not because I wanted to write, but because I felt that I needed to write. Immediately I realized the obligation in my intentions and eventually I abandoned the post for this reason. Continue reading “Thankful”

Why I Love Colorado

Well single reader, after 10 months of consecutive work (the most I’ve worked in one year since graduating college!), I am home. My last day at Mesa Verde for the season was the tenth, I spent the eleventh packing and cleaning, the twelfth driving across the state of Colorado to visit with my brother in the front range, and the thirteenth on a plane to Florida. Yesterday I celebrated my 24th birthday. And today it’s finally starting to sink in that I am done. If I decide it’s what I want to do, I won’t have to work for six whole months. Victory

For those of you who know me well, you know that saying that my high school experience wasn’t that great would be a massive understatement. To be fair, my freshman year was actually pretty awesome, and my senior year was alright, but those two in-between years were complete and utter misery. Continue reading “Victory”

Friends

I am very fortunate to have found myself an incredible group of supportive and loving friends out west. The following series of photos was taken previous to an 80s-themed party at Canyonlands this past summer (don’t judge our costumes, there are no Wal-Mart’s or shopping malls out here!). Every time I view them together I smile. I thought that I’d share them with you in the case they might make you smile too. I like to call the series Friends. Continue reading “Friends”

Spooky Stories

Happy Halloween single reader!

I love Halloween because it means the holiday season has officially begun. And I always get myself into the spirit by spending way too much time reading scary stories and giving myself nightmares. I have a bit of an overactive imagination and because of that I limit myself by only indulging my morbid curiosities during the month of October. So since I’ve spent the majority of this month sleepless anyway, I figure it’s about time that I share with you some of my spookiest stories. Continue reading “Spooky Stories”

Unoriginal

Man how time flies! I’ve been meaning to write this post and many others for more than a month now. I can’t believe October is almost over. Today will be exactly 2 weeks left of work for me here at beautiful Mesa Verde. Continue reading “Unoriginal”

This Land

On a recent hike just outside Telluride, a sign at the trailhead greeted me:

“We are each one of us stewards of this land”

I enjoyed the thoughtful reminder, and thought you might too.

Aztec Ruins

The GRE is done! Horrah! I’m still waiting on the final scores but I can’t tell you what a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. So when it came time to decide what to do with myself this past weekend only one thought came to my mind: new. I want to go someplace new. Continue reading “Aztec Ruins”
